As we know, interactions occur between living things. So plants with living things around them. Plants can be a place to live for other living things (habitat), even can be a host plant (host plants) for insects.
Insects do metamorphosis or life cycle. To carry out its life cycle insects need nutrition. Some insects get their nutrition by eating plant parts such as leaves.
This time we will share the observations we found on the tamarind tree (Tamarindus indica).
First seen the existence of green caterpillars. Its head is large with a flat face and four head ornaments shaped like a beautiful crown or even looks like a dragon's head. So it is also known as The Dragon Headed Caterpillar. This caterpillar is active at night and during the day will tend to stay above the 'leaf bed'. When actively moving, the caterpillars will go back and forth. Because of its beauty, this caterpillar is often used as an object of photography, especially for macro photography.
Furthermore, there was a caterpillar that would be a cocoon, it's called prepupa. The caterpillar attaches to the tip of the abdomen to the branch and pulls its head towards the tip of the abdomen like this.
The cocoon/puppet was also found. At first glance, the cocoon is very similar to fruit. Plus, the cocoon sticks and hangs perfectly on a tamarind tree branch. Green with white stripes. Made it visually similar to fruit.
This observation also shows butterflies that have just hatched from their cocoons. The ventral is coloured brown with the decoration of a yellowish-green coloured sign stretching from the forewings to the hindwings. The dorsal is black-brown with a yellow decoration that also connected from the forewings to hind wings.
All insects found in tamarind are Polyutra athamas. In the Tamarind tree, several individual Polyura athamas were found in different phases, except the egg phase was not found.
